Integrity Marketing Solutions (IMS) is a media and marketing firm serving lawyers and law firms since 1995. From humble beginnings as a small marketing consulting firm, principals Jennifer (Campbell) Goddard and attorney Kyle Krull have built one of the nation’s leading legal marketing firms serving more than 300 firms in nearly all 50 states.
Dave Goddard joins our team as the voice of authority in the local search market, and Executive Vice President of the market research and analysis division, IMS Local Search Authority.
Internet users engage primarily in two types of online search. The first is topic-based, with the user searching for information, entertainment or to make an online purchase. For the most part, during this first type of search, the user does not really care about location.
But there is another type of online search called Local Search. A local search is performed when someone seeks to find products or services in their area. About 70 percent of people online are shopping for local products and services. With smart mobile phone usage booming this is going to increase and further reinforce the importance of local search.
A typical local search query includes both what the user is looking for (utilizing keywords, business categories, or a specific name) and where the user is looking such as a city name or state. Examples of local searches include "Kansas City Estate Planning Attorney", "Austin TX Elder Law Attorney", and "Probate Attorney Little Rock."
Local searches can be either explicit or implicit. The examples above are explicit – the city and/or state are included in the search query. Implicit local searches, however, are conducted from within a specific geographic location – and even though the geographic location is not mentioned in the search query, the search engines will offer up local results first based on the user’s location.
Local search is highly cost effective, but rather complex. Using it to acquire new clients effectively requires careful implementation and continual management.
IMS Local Search Authority supports Integrity Marketing with focused research and analysis on trends in the local search industry and marketing performance analytics. Dave Goddard leads our research team as the voice of authority in the local search market, and Executive Vice President of this division.
